For the last decade, Bauer made the most popular mask at the pro, college and junior levels. This year, Bauer revolutionizes this mask in the form of the Bauer Profile 960XPM, keeping the superb protection, aggressive forehead ridges and iconic chin. The shell of the 960XPM is made with a fiberglass base, then being layered with carbon fiber to stiffen the shell. The chin and forehead of the mask are then reinforced with Bauer's INNEGRA fiber, along with 12K carbon as the outer layer. To protect the goalie's head after taking a shot to head, vibration dampening tape is laid out to dissipate the vibrations sent through the mask.

The most noticeable change made in the 960XPM is the padding. Rather than traditional VN foam that molds, Bauer takes a more advanced route and uses multiple foams to maximize comfort. A mechanically attached liner is partnered with XRD Foam and super soft VN; XRD Foam is placed in the main impact zones of the mask to support impact, and super soft VN is added for comfort during gameplay. The sweatband is made with Bauer 37.5 Technology, which helps regulate the temperature of the goalie's head and control sweating.

The cage of the mask is made with a pro quality stainless steel cage, with wire wrap technology. The mask also comes with a padded mask bag and an extra sweatband.
